Maryland-Style Crab Soup Recipe: How to Make It image

2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes with green peppers and onions, undrained
2 cups water
1-1/2 pounds potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (about 5 cups)
2 cups cubed peeled rutabaga
2 cups chopped cabbage
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium carrot, sliced
1/2 cup frozen corn, thawed
1/2 cup frozen lima beans, thawed
1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
1/2 cup cut fresh green beans (1-inch pieces)
4 teaspoons seafood seasoning
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 vegetable bouillon cube
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 pound fresh or lump crabmeat, drained

Steps:

  • In a 6-qt. slow cooker, combine the first 16 ingredients. Cook, covered, on low 6-8 hours or until vegetables are tender., Stir in crab. Cook, covered, on low 15 minutes longer or until heated through.

1 can (28 oz each) Hunt's® Whole Peeled Plum Tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon canola oil
3/4 cup chopped yellow onion
1-1/2 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, Southern style
1-1/2 cups Birds Eye® Classic Mixed Vegetables
4 teaspoons seafood seasoning blend (such as Old Bay®)
2 cups lower sodium beef broth
8 ounces refrigerated lump crabmeat
Hot sauce, optional

Steps:

  • Place undrained tomatoes in medium bowl; break into bite-size pieces. Heat oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook 3 to 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Add potatoes, vegetables and seafood seasoning; stir to combine.
  • Stir in undrained tomatoes and broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook 3 to 5 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Add crab; cook 3 minutes more or until crab is hot, stirring occasionally. Serve with hot sauce, if desired.

Crabmeat Egg Ritz crackers Mustard Lemon juice Parsley Old Bay Seasoning Worchestershire sauce INGREDIENTS DIRECTIONS 1 lb Crabmeat, Back Fin1 each egg; beaten1 cup Ritz crackers; crushed1 tsp yellow mustard2 tbsp Lemon juice; fresh2 tbsp Parsley; fresh, chopped1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Place crabmeat in a mixing bowl, picking any stray shell fragments out. Add crushed crackers, Old Bay Seasoning & parsley to the crab. In a separate bowl, combine egg, mustard, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Whip with a whisk until smooth. Pour egg mixture over the crabmeat and crackers and gently mix careful not to break up large lumps of crabmeat. Mold into golfball-sized balls and place on a cookie sheet.
