- Melt one tablespoon of butter and butter the bread on both sides. Arrange the bread pieces on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake six minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom. Turn the pieces and continue baking one or two minutes longer until browned on the second side.

FRENCH TOAST WITH BERRY BUTTER - THE PIONEER WOMAN
From thepioneerwoman.com
Total Time 2 hours 20 minutes

- Make the berry butters: in separate batches, whip 2 sticks of butter at a time on high using the whisk attachment. Switch to paddle attachment. Add either raspberries or blackberries. Turn mixer on low for only about five seconds, just long enough for the berries to begin to mix in/break up, but not so long that it turns into a mess. Clean mixer bowl and attachments and repeat with other kind of berry. With each batch, turn mixture out onto a long sheet of plastic wrap set over a long sheet of foil. Use the wrap/foil to roll the butter into a cylinder: first seal the plastic wrap around the cylinder, then secure the foil around it. Twist the ends, gradually applying more pressure as you twist in order to make the cylinder taut. Once it's a nice, neat cylinder of foil, place into the freezer for 30 minutes in order to quickly solidify it, then transfer it to the fridge until you're ready to use it. Butter should be nice and firm. NOTE: You can add a little sifted powdered sugar to the butter to make more of a sweet spread for bread and muffins! For French toast, though, the maple syrup makes things sweet enough. To make the french toast, cut bread into slices 1/2 inch thick. In a dish, mix together egg yolks, half-and-half, sugar, lemon zest and vanilla. Whisk to combine. Dip bread slices in mixture, coating both sides, then remove from dish and set aside. Repeat until all bread is coated. Heat iron skillet or griddle over medium heat. Sizzle butter in the pan when hot. Cook French toast on both sides until golden brown, being careful not to burn. Remove berry butters from fridge. Unwrap one end and cut slices. Lay one slice each onto each serving of French toast. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired, then drizzle with warm maple syrup.
EGGNOG FRENCH TOAST WITH ORANGE BUTTER RECIPE | CHEFDEHOME.COM
Hello all Eggnog fans!
If you love eggnog and can't have enough every winters? I'm giving you one more reason to enjoy more eggnog yummy-ness.... with these easy, moist and decadent Eggnog French Toasts. Oh, and today I served these with stewed cranberries and sweet-salty orange-honey butter to make'em perfect for Sunday holiday family brunch!
Sounds delicious?
You know these French Toast came out so so good with rich and creamy eggnog French toast batter that not just leftover eggnog..... I buy some specially to serve in winter weekend breakfast. Something about the aroma of warm nutmeg spice, creamy eggnog, and scent of orange makes every bite feel like "Festivity Served in Plate"!
Orange Honey Butter
I cannot hold back from sharing a few words about the side-kick of these French Toasts. :) You guessed it! A two-step savory homemade Honey Orange Butter.
Few weeks ago, I made this Orange-Honey Butter to serve with pancakes... Gosh!! Loved every bit of it! Simple butter mixed with some honey, tiny bit salt, and some orange zest... Sweet... salty... plus buttery! For savory-food-lover like me, I do want to ever run-out of my orange-honey butter.
Try it once, if you love butter, Orange Butter will be in your Sunday Brunch table... every single time! I promise! I recommend, mixing and refrigerating Orange Butter in small scoops, a few days in advance. This makes it easier to enjoy the special side-kick without spending that extra 5 minutes. :)
Okay, let me sum up, why these Rich French Toasts deserve a spot in your weekend family Brunch!?
1. Nothing makes Holidays more special than a family feast! Isn't it? And these French Toasts are so easy to prepare and your guests will crave for more.
2. To use holiday leftovers - eggnog, cranberries sauce, and even the gravy! lol! (j/k)
3. If this was not enough, I must tell you that texture of these French Toasts is utterly rich and scrumptious. Eggnog mix already has some of the delicious components which make rich (not eggy) French Toast Batter. To make batter a little robust, I added one egg and some nutmeg to enhance the nutmeg flavor. One main ingredient of eggnog is heavy cream. Until I tried eggnog French Toast, I didn't know how much richness and texture a touch of heavy cream can add to French Toast batter.
Even though this recipe is meant to utilize extra supply of eggnog in your refrigerator, I would buy eggnog specially just to serve these French Toasts for breakfast!
And you know the good news? If you don't get eggnog in your part of the world, you can even make some at home in just 2 simple steps.
How to make eggnog at home? 1) Simply combine 1/2 cup of heavy cream, 2 cups of whole milk, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 vanilla bean scrapped in a pot and bring to boil. Remove from heat and let is steep. (Discard vanilla bean). 2) Combine 1/2 cup sugar, and 2 egg yolks in a blender and blend until mixture is creamy. Whisk egg mix in milk mix slowly until fully combined.
Eggnog is ready!
Sip some hot or use to make eggnog French Toasts! (Eggnog recipe adapted from Jamie Oliver's recipe.)
Easy Rich French Toast Batter but no eggnog!
I hear you!! Completely!! Yes, you can make an easy French Toast batter that yields extra moist and rich French toasts without that eggy taste or eggnog! Whisk well, 1/4 cup milk with 1/4 cup heavy cream (inspired from eggnog), 1 egg and 1 egg yolk, 1/4 tsp salt, with a pinch of nutmeg! Voila!! French Toast Batter is ready!!
Serve French Toast Breakfast for Christmas Holiday or just for special time with family! and Enjoy! -Savita
