- Pre-heat the oven to 350°F.Make the cake: mix together the sugar, oil and eggs with an electric mixer and beat until fully incorporated and smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour into a greased and floured 9-inch x 13-inch cake pan. Bake the cake for 30 minutes, then remove and let cool in the pan.Make the glaze: combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and heat on low heat until the sugar dissolves and the butter is melted. Remove from the heat and whisk together. Once the cake is cooled, pour the glaze over it.

With the mixer at medium speed, add the eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Mixing at low speed, add the flour mixture alternately with the molasses in 3 batches until combined. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and bake until the cake begins to pull away from the side of the pan and is springy to the touch, about 1 hour. Transfer to a rack to cool for 20 minutes, then invert the cake onto the rack and let cool completely. Dust with the confectioners' sugar.
