Steps:
- Bring syrup, sugar, and water to a boil.
- Cook to 300 degrees add oil and food coloring. Mix and pour onto cookie sheet covered with foil.
- Score with a knife or pizza cutter into little pieces as soon as it cools about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar break into pieces when cool.

Steps:
- Take one sleeve of saltine crackers or matzo and lay flat on cookie sheet. Try to lay as close as ya can with out overlaps
- place butter and brown sugar in saucepan and melt over med low heat stirring non stop until sugar dissolves and mixture bubbles
- pour onto crackers ..spreading to edges
- Bake 400° for 5 minutes and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top when removed from oven. Allow to sit for a couple minutes so chips melt . then spread over top of crackers
- Refrigerate for an hour. . break up and enjoy!.
- If ya want to make it pretty after spreading chocolate you can top with decorative sprinkles or drizzle before refrigerator

CHRISTMAS DATE NUT CANDY | JUST A PINCH RECIPES
This came from a family member, and although it is time consuming and requires lengthy and difficult stirring, it is well worth the effort! It makes a huge batch, freezes (supposed to), and EVERYONE LOVES IT!
A roll of this candy makes a great gift (rolled in non-terry towel with design for the occasion).
Haven't made this in years, so not sure about prep/cook time. I would allow at least an hour to complete all steps.
