I have seen this recipe on quite a few different blogs and have yet to try it myself. But it looks scrumptious and who doesn't love nutella?

Total Time 30 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 10 minutes

Yield 30 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sifted flour
1/4 cup nutella
2 -3 tablespoons toasted and chopped hazelnuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix the butter and sugar together until creamy.
  • Mix in egg yolk and vanilla until well combined.
  • Stir in the sifted flour.
  • Refrigerate dough for 15 minutes to help firm it up for rolling later.
  • Remove dough from refrigerator and roll into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread Nutella on top of dough, leaving one finger width around all the edges.
  • Sprinkle with toasted hazlenuts.
  • Roll dough into a log and return to refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cut slices from dough and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Note: If you've cut thicker rounds, you will need to bake them longer.
  • Watch for the edges to begin to color and remove from oven.
  • Cool one minute on pan and transfer to cooling rack.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2.3 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 cup Butter
1 cup Granulated Sugar
0.5 cup Nutella
2 Egg Yolks
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
0.25 teaspoon Salt

Steps:

  • 01 - In a bowl mix together the Flour and Salt, and set aside. 02 - Now, using an electric mixer, cream the Butter and Sugar for about 3 minutes. 03 - Add the Egg Yolks and Vanilla and mix until combined. 04 - Turn down the velocity of the mixer and add the Flour mixture. Mix until it forms a smooth Dough. 05 - Transfer the Dough on to a lightly floured surface. 06 - Wrap the Dough with some cling film and store in the fridge for 1 hour. 07 - On a floured parchment paper roll the Dough to 2 rectangles 25x20cm / 10x8in, 1cm / 0.25in thick. 08 - Spread the Nutella on to the both Dough rectangles, leaving a little edge all around. 09 - Starting from the longest side, roll the Douh rectangles to a tight log. 10 - Wrap the parchment paper around the rolls and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. 11 - Preheat the oven to 180C / 350F. 12 - Line a baking sheet with some parchment paper. 13 - Unwrap the rolls and slice into approximately 1cm / 0.3in slices. 14 - Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes or until just golden around the edges. 15 - Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. 16 - Remove the Cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve.
