Marshmallow Buttercream Frosting Recipe - BettyCrocke… image

This extraordinarily silky version of buttercream gets its texture and soft sweetness from marshmallow creme and is one of the Betty Crocker™ Kitchen's favorite scratch frostings. Perfect for cakes, cupcakes, layer cakes—or sometimes sneaking a spoonful. We’re pretty sure once you try it, you’ll feel the same way!

1 jar (7-oz) Kraft Jet Puffed marshmallow creme (1 1/2 cups)
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
2 1/4 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • In large bowl, beat marshmallow creme, softened butter, vanilla and 1 tablespoon milk with electric mixer on medium speed until blended. Beat in powdered sugar until fluffy. If necessary, beat in more milk, a few drops at a time, until thin enough to spread.
  • Fills and frosts 1 (8-inch) two-layer cake.

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
3 to 4 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • In medium bowl, beat powdered sugar and butter with spoon or electric mixer on low speed until blended. Stir in vanilla and chocolate.
  • Gradually beat in just enough milk to make frosting smooth and spreadable. If frosting is too thick, beat in more milk, a few drops at a time. If frosting becomes too thin, beat in a small amount of powdered sugar. Frosts 13x9-inch cake generously, or fills and frosts an 8- or 9-inch two-layer cake.
