1 1/4 pounds green beans, trimmed and chopped into 1-inch pieces
2 slices bacon, chopped
1 small onion, minced
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons sugar

Steps:

Cook green beans in 1-inch simmering water, covered, for 6 minutes. Drain and set aside. Return skillet to stove and set burner to medium high. Add bacon and brown. When fat begins to render, add chopped onions to the pan and cook until tender with the bacon. Add cooked green beans to the pan and turn to coat in bacon drippings and onions. When the beans are hot and bacon crisp at edges and onions translucent add vinegar to the pan and season with beans with sugar. Allow the vinegar to evaporate and the sugar to combine with pan drippings, 1 to 2 minutes, then serve.

Number Of Ingredients 5

Ingredients

1 can Campbells Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (10 ¾ oz)
2 cans Green Beans, drained and rinsed (14 ½ oz)
1 1/3 cups French’s French Fried Onions
¾ cup Milk
¼ teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

Steps:

In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the Mushroom Soup
Add the milk.
Add the Black Pepper.
Add the Green Beans.
Add 2/3 cup of the Onions.
Stir mixture well.
Spoon into a 1 ½ quart casserole dish.
Bake at 350ºF for 25-30 minutes, or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling.
Gently stir the bean mixture, sprinkle the remaining onions on top.
Bake another 5 minutes, or until the onions on top are golden brown.
Remove from oven and serve warm.

Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare an ice bath: In a large pot of boiling water, add green beans and cook until bright green, about 6 minutes. With a slotted spoon or tongs, quickly transfer green beans to ice bath to cool, then drain and transfer to a large bowl. In a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring often, until mushrooms are golden, about 5 minutes more. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute, then transfer mixture to green bean bowl. In same skillet over medium heat, melt remaining 4 tablespoons butter. Whisk in flour and cook until golden, about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat, then add green bean mixture and toss until even combined. Bake until warmed through and bubbling, about 30 minutes. Top with fried onions and bake 5 minutes more.
