Italian Sausage with Peppers Recipe: How to Make It image

Local fairs in these parts are famous for sausage and pepper sandwiches. I came up with my own baked recipe so our friends and family could get a taste year-round. —Becki Clemetson, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania

Number Of Ingredients 17

5 Hungarian wax peppers
1 large sweet yellow pepper
1 large sweet red pepper
2 medium sweet onions, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) Italian diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1/2 cup water
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
8 Italian sausage links (4 ounces each)
8 hoagie buns, split

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. If desired, seed wax peppers; cut wax and bell peppers into 2-in. pieces. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat; add peppers and onions. Cook and stir until tender, 5-7 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, water, garlic, bay leaves and seasonings; heat through., Meanwhile, in another large skillet, brown sausages. Transfer to an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with pepper mixture. , Cover and bake until a thermometer inserted in sausage reads 160°, 35-40 minutes. Discard bay leaves. Serve on buns.

Cheddar Bay Sausage Balls - Pimento Cheese image

Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix is available at most grocery stores and is available in a four pouch pack at Sam's Club. Only one pouch is needed for this recipe. Palmetto Cheese is also available at Sam's Club and your area grocery store. If you prefer these to be spicy, use our newest variety, Pepper Jack Palmetto Cheese. Currently available at Kroger in AL, GA, and SC. If Pepper Jack is not available, try it with Palmetto Cheese with Jalapenos.

1 - 11.24 oz. Package Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
11 oz. Palmetto Cheese
1 - .12 oz. Garlic Herb Blend Pouch (found in the box of Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix)
1 pound Breakfast Sausage (uncooked)
1 Tbsp Parsley chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Grease a baking sheet with pan spray or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, combine Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix, Palmetto Cheese, Garlic Herb Pouch, Parsley, and Breakfast Sausage(uncooked). Mix until combined.
  • Scoop out mixture using a Tablespoon and roll into a ball.
  • Place on the prepared baking sheet and space at least 1/2 inch apart.
  • You should get approximately 48 balls.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes at 375F.
