MONTE CRISTO PULL-APART SLIDERS RECIPE BY TASTY

Monte Cristo Pull-Apart Sliders Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: raspberry, granulated sugar, fresh lemon juice, nonstick cooking spray, sweet hawaiian dinner rolls, roasted turkey, honey ham, swiss cheese, large egg, unsalted butter, powdered sugar

Provided by Katie Aubin

Total Time 3 hours 30 minutes

Prep Time 3 hours

Cook Time 30 minutes

Yield 12 sliders

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cups raspberry
½ cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
1 package sweet hawaiian dinner rolls, 12 count
¼ lb roasted turkey, sliced
¼ lb honey ham, sliced
¼ lb swiss cheese, grated
1 large egg, beaten
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
powdered sugar, for dusting

Steps:

  • Make the raspberry jam: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook the raspberries for about 4 minutes, until they start to burst and become very fragrant. Add the sugar and cook, stirring constantly, for 10-15 minutes, until running a spoon through the jam leaves an open trail at the bottom of the pot. Stir in the lemon juice. Remove the pot from the heat and let the jam cool completely. Transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Make the sliders: Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a small baking sheet with foil, leaving enough overhang so the sides can be used as handles. Grease with nonstick spray.
  • Slice the sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, leaving the individual rolls connected. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking sheet.
  • Layer the turkey and ham on top, making sure to fold the meat to fit inside the individual squares of the rolls, then top with the Swiss cheese.
  • Spread the raspberry jam over the top half of the rolls and place on top of the cheese layer, pressing down lightly.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the egg and melted butter. Liberally brush on top of the rolls.
  • Bake the sliders until the cheese is completely melted and the buns are toasted, 25-30 minutes. If the tops begin to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
  • Remove the sliders from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Dust lightly with powdered sugar and serve whole so the sliders can be pulled apart.
  • Enjoy!

SOUTH YOUR MOUTH: MONTE CRISTO PARTY SLIDERS

South Your Mouth: Monte Cristo Party Sliders image

Party sandwich sliders made with Hawaiian rolls, ham, turkey and cheese baked in a rich buttery topping dusted with powdered sugar.

Provided by Mandy Rivers | South Your Mouth

Total Time 40 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 30 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 packs (12-count each) sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls
1/2 pound deli-sliced honey ham
1/2 pound deli-sliced smoked turkey
1/2 pound gruyère, swiss or muenster, shredded or sliced
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
1 egg, well beaten
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
Powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Line a 13x9 baking pan with aluminum foil and spray very lightly with cooking spray. The aluminum foil is optional but it makes it very easy to remove the rolls from the pan once they’re cooked.
  • Remove rolls from packaging without separating them and slice in half horizontally with a serrated knife (sort of making one giant rectangular hamburger bun). Repeat this process with the second package.
  • Place both bottom portions of rolls side-by-side in the bottom of a 13x9 baking pan (these will fit perfectly in most metal 13x9 pans). You'll notice I didn't do such a hot job cutting mine because the top portion of the rolls is way thicker than the bottom. Whoops!
  • Layer ham slices, turkey slices and then cheese evenly over rolls then place the top portion of the rolls on top of cheese.
  • Whisk together melted butter, egg and dijon mustard until well combined then pour over tops of rolls, coating each one. Cover rolls with tented foil (don’t let the foil touch the tops of the rolls) then bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for 10 more minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let rest 15 minutes. Remove rolls from pan and slice into single servings. When ready to serve, dust with powdered sugar (not before as the powdered sugar will eventually dissolve into the moisture on the rolls).
