Wontons are easy to make, and the distinctive Asian flavors of the pork filling make them an appetizer everyone will crave.

¾ pound ground pork
8 canned water chestnuts, finely chopped
¼ cup finely chopped green onions
1 tablespoon Kikkoman Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
1 (16 ounce) package wonton skins
Vegetable oil for deep-frying
Tomato ketchup and hot mustard or Kikkoman Sweet & Sour Sauce

Steps:

  • Combine pork, water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, salt and ginger in medium bowl; mix well. Place 1/2 teaspoonful pork mixture in center of each wonton skin. Fold wonton skin over filling to form a triangle. Turn top of triangle down to meet fold. Turn over; moisten 1 corner with water. Overlap opposite corner over moistened corner; press together firmly.
  • Heat oil in wok or large saucepan over medium-high heat to 375 degrees F. Deep-fry wontons, a few at a time, 2 to 3 minutes, or until brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard or sweet & sour sauce, as desired.

1 lb. pork sausage
2 ½ cups shredded cheese (whichever variety you prefer)
1 cup ranch dressing (1 packet of Ranch mix, prepared, not bottled)
40 + Wonton wrappers
2 tbsp. Vegetable oil
2-3 bundles of fresh green onions (chopped, plus extra for garnish)
1 red bell pepper (diced)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray a muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Add a wonton wrapper to each muffin tin, making sure the sides stick up on the sides of the muffin tin compartments.
  • Lightly brush the wonton wrappers with vegetable oil.
  • Bake the wontons in a 350 degree oven for 4-5 minutes until the corners begin to turn golden brown.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Once wonton wrappers have finished baking, remove them from the muffin tins and place them onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • In a skillet, brown sausage. 1-2 minutes before you are finished, add red bell pepper to the skillet and finish cooking the sausage and pepper together.
  • To a large mixing bowl, add prepared ranch dressing, sausage and pepper mixture, shredded cheese, and chopped green onions. Stir to combine all ingredients.
  • Spoon the cheesy ranch sausage mixture into wonton cups, about ¼ cup of mixture per cup.
  • Bake for 5-10 minutes in a 350 degree oven until warmed through and the cheese is melted.
