- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring or whisking often. Then reduce heat to a low simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring often.
- Add more water to thin the barbecue sauce if it is too thick. I usually add up to ½ cup more water to reach my desired consistency.

- In a small saucepan, combine the first 10 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. Set aside 1 cup barbecue sauce to serve with burgers., In a large bowl, combine the egg, oats, 1/4 cup of the remaining barbecue sauce, onion salt, garlic salt, pepper and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 6 patties. , Grill, covered, over medium heat until a thermometer reads 160°, 6-8 minutes on each side, basting with 1/2 cup barbecue sauce during the last 5 minutes. Serve on buns with toppings of your choice and reserved barbecue sauce.

- Cut the red onion into ½-inch thick round slices, keeping the circles of the onion intact. Set aside. Combine the bison, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper a large bowl. Mix gently but thoroughly to combine. Divide the mixture into four even portions, about 8 ounces each. Pat together into a ball (but not too tightly), then press into a patty, about 1-inch thick. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and swirl to coat the pan. Place the onion slices in the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
