This spicy applesauce requires no added sugar because the apples and spices are sweet enough on their own. The smell of the apples cooking with the spices makes the entire house smell like apple cider!

5 pounds apples - peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1?½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Layer apples into a slow cooker. Sprinkle cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg over the apples.
  • Cook on High until apples are soft, 4 to 5 hours. Whisk apples vigorously for a chunkier-style applesauce. Puree with an immersion blender for a smoother applesauce.

Now, I make this every Sunday and take it to work for the rest of the week. At less than 100 calories per serving, it feels hearty but keeps me on track.

2 bananas, mashed
5 cups water, divided
1 cup steel cut oats
¼ cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Put bananas into a blender with 1 cup water; puree and pour into a slow cooker. Add remaining water, oats, raisins, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  • Cook on Medium, stirring every 30 minutes, for 3 hours.
