- In a large bowl, sift the confectioner’s sugar, then the unsweetened cocoa, to get rid of any lumps. Stir in the powdered milk, and whisk well until everything is combined. Add mini marshmallows to the container, if desired. This can be kept in the pantry for 6 months.

- In a 1-quart jar, layer cocoa powder, powdered milk, chocolate chips, peppermint candies, and mini marshmallows. Prep time: 5 minutes. Total time: 10 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Whisk the Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix with 4 cups cold water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, whisking, until warm and smooth and the candies and marshmallows are melted, 6 to 8 minutes (do not let the mixture boil). Ladle into mugs.
