Here, from Chef Anthony, is a simple and savory recipe for whole-wheat couscous. Enjoy it for lunch, as a side dish, or as a hearty snack any time of day.

Provided by Pritikin Chefs

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 red onion (chopped)
1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano (dried)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup couscous (whole wheat)

Steps:

  • Lightly mist a medium nonstick saucepan with canola oil spray and pre-heat over medium-high heat.
  • Add onions to pan and sauté until softened, about 2 minutes.
  • Add tomatoes, garlic, oregano, black pepper, and water to pan, and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer until tomatoes begin to soften, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place couscous in medium mixing bowl.
  • Remove tomato mixture from heat and immediately pour over couscous. Cover and let stand 5 to 8 minutes, until couscous is tender and liquid is absorbed. Stir with fork to fluff before serving.

I got this from a home remedies Brazilian book, it has a home remedie for just about everything. I had gone to the Dr. and was told I had my cholesterol a little high. I had read about this remedie and had my doubts about it. But I had nothing to lose,did the treatment for 15 days as recomended, and then did blood testes. You know what it worked and I lost 2 kilos. So if you have your Cholesterol high go ahead and give it a try it certainly won't hurt you. Oh yes DO NOT use a plastic container, use a glass or a ceramic jug to do this in.

Prep Time 5 minutes

Yield 4-5 cups

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 liter water
1 eggplant
2 lemons

Steps:

  • Cut the eggplant into cubes, and place inside of a jug.
  • Pour in your water, and leave overnight.
  • The next day drain (you can save the eggplant for a soup) and squeeze the lemons into the drained water, drink through out the day.
  • Repeat this process for 15 days.
