Easy No-Yeast version of Filipino Cheese Donuts Balls/ Holes

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
2 tbsp white sugar
3/4 cup evaporated milk ((you can also use water))
1 tbsp oil
diced cheese (for the filling (you can use brands like Eden or Ques-o))
cooking oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients except for the cheese.
  • Use clean hands to form a dough. You may sprinkle more flour if mixture is sticky.
  • Cover and rest the dough for 30 minutes.
  • Knead the dough until elastic and smooth.
  •  Roll the dough into a log then cut into smaller pieces of dough.
  • Flatten a small piece of dough and place a piece or two of diced cheese at the center.
  • Form the dough into a ball, keeping the cheese inside.
  • Repeat for the remaining dough then allow to rest for 10 minutes.
  • Heat some cooking oil in a pan and fry the doughnut balls until golden brown.
  • Remove from heat and coat doughnuts with sugar before serving. Enjoy!

These treats are Filipino donuts that are twisted and then rolled in sugar. Enjoy them as a dessert, snack or for breakfast.

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 c. all-purpose flour
1 t. salt
2 t. dry active yeast
1 c. lukewarm water
2 T. oil
1/4 c. white sugar

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Add sugar, salt, oil and 3 cups flour. Mix and knead until smooth. Use remaining flour during kneading. Form into a ball; let rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour. This process will double the size of the dough. Punch down; divide into 20 portions. Roll each portion into a 10 inch cylinder; twist like a rope. Fry about 1-2 minutes on each side in deep hot oil until golden brown. Roll in white sugar. Serve warm, if possible.
