DIY CHILE OIL RECIPE | RACHAEL RAY IN SEASON



DIY Chile Oil recipe | Rachael Ray In Season image

Add some spice and zest to a basic meal with this homemade chile condiment.

Number Of Ingredients 5

½ cup canola oil
2 tbsp. crushed red pepper
1 tsp. crushed Szechuan peppercorns
2 tsp. chopped garlic
2 tsp. chopped ginger

Steps:

  • Heat 1/2 cup canola oil until warmed. Off heat, stir in 2 tbsp. crushed red pepper, 1 tsp. crushed Szechuan peppercorns, and 2 tsp. each chopped garlic and ginger. Let cool. Store the oil in the fridge, where it will keep for about a month, giving you plenty of time to drizzle it over dumplings, noodles, and vegetables.

A quick way to add spicy flavors to your stir fry, or roasted vegetables, or rub on baked potatoes before baking.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup cooking oil
2 teaspoons dried crushed red pepper flakes
4 garlic cloves
2 slices gingerroot (1/4 inch thick)

Steps:

  • Place cooking oil, chilies, garlic cloves and gingerroot into an ovenproof glass bowl with lid.
  • Bake in 300 oven for 1 hour until garlic cloves and gingerroot are golden brown.
  • Remove to wire rack to cool for 30 minutes.
  • Line strainer with coffee filter or several layers of cheesecloth, strain oil into glass jar. Chill.
  • Oil should be clear. Chill makes about 7/8 cups.
