Everyone knows that boiling bratwurst in beer is a great way to prepare them, but what if you don't have or can't use beer? Try this substitute recipe that makes delicious bratwurst.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 onions, cut into 6 pieces
10 garlic cloves, minced
2 liters ginger ale
1 (16 ounce) jar sauerkraut with liquid
ground black pepper to taste
6 fresh bratwurst sausages

Steps:

  • Combine the onions, garlic, ginger ale, sauerkraut with liquid, and pepper in a large pot; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer another 7 to 10 minutes. Add the bratwurst and simmer until the sausages are cooked through, about 15 minutes. Drain, and serve with sauerkraut.

It takes only a few minutes in the Instant Pot to make perfect brats, so why not do it the easy way by cooking your brats in the Instant Pot!

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 tbsp butter
5 Brats (1 package)
1 cup water or beer

Steps:

  • Turn on saute mode. Add butter to the Instant Pot and saute the brats for 2 minutes per side.
  • Turn off machine and remove the brats. Pour the water into the bottom of the pot and deglaze any browned bits. Insert the trivet.
  • Place the brats on the trivet. Lock the lid and set the vent to seal.
  • Set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook on high for 6 minutes then manually release the pressure.
  • Test the internal temperature of the peppers to make sure it reached 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
