This is a super-easy way someone taught me to make homemade yogurt that requires only 2 ingredients. Pay attention to the notes. Halve the recipe if this is your first time. Usually because store-bought yogurts have lots of additives first-time yogurts do not turn out perfectly. But save 1 cup and use it as base the next time and you will see how well it turns out.

1 gallon 2% milk
1 cup plain yogurt with active cultures

Steps:

  • Pour the milk into a pot and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Reduce heat and simmer, about 10 minutes; do not let it boil over.
  • Remove pot from heat and allow to sit for 30 to 60 minutes. Dip your finger into the milk every once in a while to determine when you can leave your finger in the milk for 10 to 15 seconds without burning. Pour in the yogurt; there is no need to stir.
  • Put the lid on the pot and carefully wrap a blanket around it. Place the wrapped pot in a slightly warm place where it will be undisturbed for 6 to 10 hours; overnight is best. Transfer to the refrigerator to allow the yogurt to continue to thicken.

Summer pool parties are coming. They are lively, bustling and the kids never want to leave the water even to eat. They are truly tireless, but they always need some energy to continue the game without missing the fun. For them I bring you this super simple recipe, it's extremely easy to make and has only two components: yogurt and granola bars. Both will give our children the energy they need to enjoy their day at the pool for hours. You won't need ice pop molds, you can use plastic cups and they work just as well. For this recipe I used a peach yogurt, which has a nice color and a delicate flavor, to create a good contrast with the granola, which is sweet and has the texture of oatmeal, walnuts and almonds. With these two different ingredients the end result is delicious and the creaminess of the yogurt and granola bits are distributed across so well that you get a nice mouthful with every bite. If you're have a children's pool party and want to surprise the them, use different colors and flavors of yogurt so that the presentation is very pretty and colorful. And do not take them out of the freezer until its time to serve, because they melt quickly, especially in hot weather.

2 cups (6 oz each) Yoplait® yogurt Original or Light

Steps:

  • Use a sharp knife to cut the granola into tiny cubes. Set aside.
  • Pour two tablespoons of yogurt into plastic cups (or pop molds) then a few pieces of granola, more yogurt, more granola, and so on until you fill the cups or molds.
  • Insert popsicle sticks and freeze until very firm. Remove from molds and serve.
