Easy Creamed Pearl Onions Recipe | Allrecipes image

This is a recipe I originally received from my mother-in-law. Makes a great addition to any holiday meal.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound pearl onions
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1 ½ cups light cream
½ teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Place onions into a large pot and cover with salted water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir flour and nutmeg in melted butter for about 5 minutes; season with salt and pepper. Add cream to flour mixture; cook and stir until bubbly and thick, about 5 minutes more. Stir onion and parsley into cream sauce until heated through, 2 to 3 minutes.

1 bag frozen pearl onions
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Thaw pearl onions and then saute in butter until golden brown. Deglaze by adding a little water at a time. Finish with heavy cream and reduce until you achieve a smooth consistency. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade. , Drain and discard marinade. Grill steak, covered, over medium heat or broil 3-4 in. from the heat for 7-9 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing., Meanwhile, transfer reserved marinade to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced by half. Set aside., In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat. Pour eggs into skillet. As eggs set, lift edges, letting uncooked portion flow underneath. When eggs are completely cooked, remove to plate. Chop eggs into small pieces; set aside., In the same skillet, stir-fry rice in remaining butter over medium-high heat.
