½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup sour cream
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1?½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ cup diced onion
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion and salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to toss with potatoes.

White Potato Dressing Recipe | Allrecipes image

This dressing recipe substitutes potatoes for bread and makes a dish that is similar to a casserole.

10 pounds white potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casing removed
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
½ pound raisins
1 pinch dried sage
1 pinch garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 9x12 inch baking dishes.
  • Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Crumble and cook over medium high heat. Add bell pepper and onion to sausage and cook until sausage is evenly brown.
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes; cook until tender but still firm. Drain, and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Mash potatoes until smooth and add to sausage mixture. Stir in tomato sauce, raisins, sage, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Pour into baking dishes and bake for 25 to 35 minutes.

This is my mom's potato salad recipe, which I just love. I haven't seen one here exactly like it. It uses italian dressing to give it flavor, and doesn't have pickles or mustard. The key to an excellent final product is letting the Italian dressing sit for a couple of hours and soak up the flavors before adding the mayo. My favorite dressing to use is the kind you make yourself from a package, adding oil, water and vinegar - just be sure you've made it up ahead of time so it is full of flavor by the time you need it. Cooking time is marinating time.
