Tuna Meatballs with Mayonnaise Dip | So Delicious image

You can combine the ideas from two different dishes anytime you feel like it and get a new one. Try this with tuna and meatballs. The fish meat will lend them its soft texture, while the spring onion, lemon juice, and mustard will kick the flavors up. On that note, the mayonnaise dip is a welcome complement.

For the meatballs:
7 ounces of canned tuna
2 spring onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon whole grain dijon mustard
2 eggs
vegetable oil
For the mayonnaise dip:
½ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
salt
pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
fresh parsley for garnishing
2 limes wedges for serving

Steps:

  • For the meatballs: Add the tuna, spring onion, lemon juice, whole grain mustard, and eggs and mix them.
  • Form the tuna mixture into meatballs. We’ve got five of them.
  • Heat some vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, then fry the meatballs until golden brown. Set them aside.
  • For the mayonnaise dip: Add the mayonnaise, lemon juice, fresh parsley, and olive oil to a smaller bowl, season with salt and pepper and mix until smooth.
  • Serve the meatballs together with the dip. You can serve them with lime wedges and toss some fresh parsley in there, too.

Chicken is the most popular meat in the United States. Why not chicken as a meatball? These won’t be dried since they’re fried. The recipe calls for an easy mayo-mustard sauce. But these would be delicious in a marinara, barbecue or teriyaki sauce as well.

1 lb ground chicken
2 tsp garlic powder
2 egg
3 tablespoon Wheat Flour
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp Oyster Sauce
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp dried thyme
3 Cups vegetable Oil
3 cups All-Purpose Flour
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 cup Mayonnaise
2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp Dijon Mustard

Steps:

  • Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, yellow mustard, and dijon mustard. Mix well until fully incorporated and let it chill. In a big bowl, mix all together with the ground chicken, garlic powder, wheat flour, Worcestershire sauce, Oyster Sauce, Paprika, Onion Powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. And add whisked 1 whole egg. Mix well until fully incorporated. Using an ice cream scooper, scoop out the mixture and form it into a ball. Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Standard breading procedure. Flour - Egg Wash - Flour Deep fry the meatballs until golden brown and put it in a bowl lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Plate and top with the sauce.
