1 large onion, sliced
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms, optional
1 small green pepper, sliced, optional
1 small sweet red pepper, sliced, optional
6 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1-1/2 pounds beef ribeye steaks, thinly sliced
4 crusty Italian rolls, split
Process cheese sauce
Ketchup, optional

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute the onion and, if desired, mushrooms and peppers in 3 tablespoons oil until tender. Remove and keep warm. In the same pan, saute beef in remaining oil in batches for 45-60 seconds or until meat reaches desired doneness., On each roll bottom, layer the beef, onion mixture, cheese and, if desired, ketchup. Replace tops.

Easy 10-Minute Butter-Basted Garlic Steak | Recipe ... image

This recipe proves that you *can* make restaurant-quality steak at home -- for WAY less money.

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 NY strip steaks
1 1/2-inch thick (about 16-ounces each)
trimmed
Canola oil
Salt
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic
smashed
3 sprigs thyme
rosemary or sage
or one of each
Flaky sea salt
for topping
Freshly ground pepper
for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat a large cast-iron pan over high heat
  • Rub each steak with about a teaspoon of oil
  • Season each steak with a fat pinch of salt on each side
  • Once the pan is super hot, add 1 tablespoon oil
  • Using a paper towel, spread the oil all over the pan, removing any excess and leaving a slick of oil behind
  • When the pan begins to smoke, add the steaks, leaving plenty of space in between
  • Lower the heat to medium, and sear the steak for 4 to 5 minutes
  • Flip and cook for 4 minutes more, adding the butter, smashed garlic cloves, and herb sprigs
  • Using a spoon, baste the tops of the steaks for the last minute with the melted garlic-herb butter from the pan
  • Remove the steaks to a cutting board and let rest for at least 5 minutes
  • Slice the steaks and arrange on a serving platter
  • Spoon some of the garlic-herb butter on top
  • Season with flakey sea salt and pepper and top with the crispy herbs
