Meat Marinade Seasoning Mix | McCormick image

This savory marinade is made with the perfect blend of McCormick herbs and spices, including onion, mustard, paprika and black pepper and it's so easy to prepare. Try it on your favorite cuts to make meat more tender and flavorful.

Number Of Ingredients 13

Marinade Seasoning Blend
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsps onions minced
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp mustard ground
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp black pepper ground
Marinated Steak
2 pounds boneless steak such as round, flank, or skirt steak
1/4 cup oil
2 tbsps white vinegar
1 tbsp water

Steps:

  • For the Marinade Seasoning Blend, mix all ingredients in medium bowl until well blended. Set aside.
  • Pierce steak in several places with fork. (If using more tender cuts, such as sirloin, top loin, tenderloin, rib or rib-eye, do not pierce with fork.)
  • Add oil, vinegar, and water to Marinade Seasoning Blend in bowl; mix well. Place steak in large resealable plastic bag or glass dish. Add marinade; turn to coat well. Refrigerate 30 minutes or longer for more flavor. Remove steak from marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.
  • Grill, broil or roast until steak is cooked through or until desired doneness.
  • Test Kitchen Tip: For a zesty citrus twist, substitute lemon juice for the vinegar when making the marinade.

The ingredients listed on the real Hot Chili Seasoning are water, corn syrup, salt, distilled vinegar, natural flavors, xanthan gum, and extractives of paprika. We'll use many of those same ingredients for our clone, but we'll substitute gelatin for the xanthan gum (a thickener) to get the slightly gooey consistency right. For the natural flavor and color we'll use cayenne pepper, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder, then filter the particles out with a fine wire-mesh strainer after they've contributed what the sauce needs. This recipe makes 5 ounces of sauce— just the right amount to fit nicely into a used hot sauce bottle—and costs just pennies to make.
