APPLE GRAPE SALAD RECIPE: HOW TO MAKE IT - TASTE OF HOME
I've made this recipe featuring apples and grapes for special dinners all through my 46 married years, and it's always been a hit. My sister worked for a farm wife during the late '30s and early '40s, and she got this recipe from her. Steps:
- In a large saucepan, combine sugar and flour. Stir in water until smooth; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened and bubbly. Remove from the heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Cool to room temperature. , In a large bowl, combine the apples, grapes, celery and walnuts. Add the dressing and toss gently. Refrigerate until serving.

APPLE SALAD RECIPE (WITH GRAPES, WALNUTS, AND CREAMY MAYO ...
Steps:
- Place 1/3 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt in a large bowl and whisk to combine.
- Prepare the following, adding each to the bowl of dressing as you complete them: Core and cut 2 medium Pink Lady and 1 medium Opal apples into 1/2-inch pieces. Halve 1 cup seedless red grapes.
- Add 1/2 cup dried cranberries and 1/3 cup chopped walnuts and toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Toss well before serving. To serve, spoon about 1 cup of the apple salad into a Boston lettuce leaf.
