Steps:
- Heat oven to 400°F.
- Combine all cookie ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
- Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6-8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Combine all glaze ingredients in bowl; stir until smooth. Frost warm cookies with glaze. Sprinkle with additional lemon zest, if desired.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg and extract. Combine the flour, nutmeg and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well., Divide dough into 3 portions. Roll each portion into 3/4-in.-thick logs; chill until firm, about 30 minutes. Cut into 2-in. pieces. Place on ungreased baking sheets; flatten slightly., Bake at 350°, until bottoms are lightly browned, 12-16 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely., For frosting, in a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Beat in the confectioners' sugar, extract and enough milk to achieve desired consistency. Frost cookies. Press down with tines of a fork, making lines down frosting to simulate tree bark. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
