Fish Egg Salad Recipe | Allrecipes image

This is a delightfully light gelatin dessert with small pearls of tapioca mixed in. You may use any flavor of gelatin mix that you like, and even stir in your favorite fruit when you fold in the whipped cream.

5 cups water
1 cup small pearl tapioca
1 (3 ounce) package strawberry flavored Jell-O®
1 cup white sugar
2 cups heavy cream

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and pour in the tapioca pearls. Cover, and let stand for 30 minutes. If the mixture is clear, it is done. If not, set over low heat and warm slowly until it becomes clear. Heat the water to almost boiling if you did not have to reheat, and stir in the gelatin and sugar until dissolved. Cover, and refrigerate until almost set, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • In a large bowl, whip the cream using an electric mixer until fluffy. Fold into the gelatin mixture, and pour into a bowl or mold. Chill until set, about 2 hours.

Number Of Ingredients 11

Fish Eggs - 150 gms
Tomatoes - - 4 medium sized (finely chopped)
Onion - 2 medium Sized (finely chopped)
Green Chillies- 2-3
Curry leaves 5-6 leaves (optional)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilly Powder - 1 tsp (or as per preference)
Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - per taste
Green coriander - Chopped
Mustard Oil 4-5 tablespoons

Steps:

  • Heat Oil in a pan (preferably thick bottomed)
  • Add finely chopped onions and fry till they become light pink
  • Add green chillies and curry leaves, fry for few seconds
  • Bung in the chopped tomatoes
  • Add the powdered spices and salt
  • Cover and cook till tomatoes become soft, we only want the tomatoes go soft don't fry it till it becomes dry as the moisture will help making the dish soft.
  • Add the fish eggs and mix by stirring, keep stirring till all the eggs becomes white.(if you dont stir the fish eggs will start sticking to the pan)
  • Fry the eggs (constantly stirring) in Low to medium flame till the oil starts oozing out of the fish egg bhurji. You need to fry it for about 8-10 minutes in slow flame. Don't wait till the oil starts foaming as this will make the eggs too hard and grainy.
  • Turn off the heat and garnish with green coriander
