- In a large skillet, heat the butter, brown sugar and water to boiling. Reduce heat to simmer. , Meanwhile, combine the dumpling ingredients; add apple if desired. Drop by tablespoonfuls into the simmering sauce. Cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes. Do not lift lid. If desired, serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
- Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with a cooking spray.
- Peel and core the apples before cutting them into 16 pieces.
- Wrap each apple into a crescent roll.
- Put the wrapped apples into the baking pan with the core facing down.
- In a bowl, mix the granulated sugar and brown sugar together.
- Spread the mixture evenly over the apples.
- Carefully spread the butter or margarine over the apples.
- Pour the sprite only around the edges of the pan.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until they have browned well.
- Once done, serve some warm apple dumplings and enjoy!
