Categories     Yeast Bread

Total Time 1 hours 0 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 25 minutes

Yield 20 pastries

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 (8 ounce) tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough, divided
1 (8 ounce) can almond paste
1 (8 ounce) container mascarpone cheese
½ cup white sugar
1 large egg, separated, divided
2 ¼ ounces sliced almonds
1 tablespoon white sugar, or as needed
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9x13-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  • Unroll 1 tube of crescent roll dough and spread in the bottom of the prepared pan. Seal the seams of the dough to prevent from separation.
  • Roll almond paste into a thin sheet, large enough to cover your cake pan. Cut edges with a knife or rolling pizza cutter.
  • Combine mascarpone cheese, 1/2 cup white sugar, and egg yolk in the bowl of an electric mixer; mix until thoroughly combined and smooth with no lumps remaining. Spread evenly on top of dough. Place rolled out almond paste on top of cheese mixture.
  • Open the remaining tube of crescent dough, unroll it, and put on top of the almond paste. Seal all of the seams and ensure dough covers the entire top of the pan. Whisk egg white and use a pastry brush to spread on the top of the rolled out dough. Spread sliced almonds on top to coat. Lightly sprinkle remaining white sugar evenly on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until top is golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  • Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar and water for glaze together in a bowl. Drizzle over the top of the cooled Danish and cut.

CHERRY-ALMOND-CREAM CHEESE CRESCENT DANISH TREE RECIPE ...

Cherry-Almond-Cream Cheese Crescent Danish Tree Recipe ... image

Nothing says happy holidays like a Christmas tree-shaped treat, and this pull-apart made up of mini crescent Danishes will be your new favorite. Each pastry gets filled with an almond-sweetened cream cheese mixture and scoop of cherry pie filling, then arranged into a tree shape before baking—no fussy dough rolling required!

Provided by Pillsbury Kitchens

Total Time 35 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Yield 11

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) or 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet
2 oz (from 8-oz package) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup canned cherry pie filling (from 21-oz can)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Line large cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper. Remove dough from can; do not unroll. Using serrated knife, cut dough roll into 11 rounds.
  • Using photo as a guide, arrange dough into shape of tree on cookie sheet, spacing slightly apart, and ending with one round for the base. Gently press middle of each round to create a well for topping.
  • In small bowl, mix cream cheese, 1/4 cup powdered sugar and the almond extract with spoon until mixed well. Spoon 1 rounded teaspoon cream cheese mixture on center of each dough round, spreading slightly. Top each with 1 cherry. Bake 16 to 19 minutes or until golden brown and dough is baked through.
  • In small bowl, mix 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of the milk, adding more as necessary for desired drizzling consistency. Drizzle topping on top of crescent tree, and serve warm.

DANISH DOUGH RECIPE - NYT COOKING
This streamlined process for making Danish dough gives you flaky, crisp, buttery pastry with a fraction of work that the traditional method requires. The only trick to this recipe is planning for the considerable resting time. Break up the work over a few days to simplify the process. If you don’t have a food processor, cut the butter into 1/4-inch pieces and chill until firm. Fold the cold butter pieces into the flour mixture and continue with the recipe as written. If you are using this dough to make our pear and almond Danish braid, add 1 teaspoon (2 grams) coarsely ground fresh cardamom to step 1, along with the flour, sugar, yeast and salt.

TOP SECRET RECIPES | BROWN AND HALEY ALMOND ROCA
Founded in 1914 by Harry Brown and J.C. Haley in Tacoma, Washington, the Brown and Haley Candy Company is one of the oldest confectioners in the country. In 1923 the company hit the jackpot when Harry Brown and the former cook from what would eventually become the Mars candy company, created a chocolate-coated butter toffee candy, sprinkled with California almonds. They took the sweet to Tacoma's head librarian, and she named it Almond Roca—roca means "rock" in Spanish. In 1927 the two men decided to wrap the little candies in imported gold foil and pack them into the now-familiar pink cans to extend their shelf life threefold. In fact, because of the way the candy was packaged, it was carried by troops in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War. The Brown and Haley candy company is still housed in the former shoe factory that it has occupied since 1919. Almond Roca is so popular today that it can be found in sixty-four countries and is a market leader in Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Japan. The company sells more than 5 million pounds of Almond Roca each year and is the United States leading exporter of packaged confections.  Click here for more of my copycat recipes of famous candy.
