Crab Spread Recipe: How to Make It - Taste of Home image

My family has fond memories of traveling to my parents' house for Christmas dinner. After a 12-hour drive, we'd be welcomed in the door with this special seafood spread. —Barbara Biddle, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Yield 2 cups (8 servings).

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 can (6 ounces) crabmeat, drained, flaked and cartilage removed
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
Paprika
Assorted crackers or vegetables

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients. To serve chilled, cover and refrigerate until serving. Sprinkle with paprika., To serve warm, spoon into a greased 3-cup baking dish. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 15 minutes or until heated through. Serve with crackers or vegetables.

I love crab dip but when my 3 sons were growing up I couldn't afford crab. In fact, the only crab in the house was ME! I got this recipe from a friend years ago. I believe I ate the entire bowl in one sitting. The imitation crab is just a white fish that you can find packaged in the fish section of the grocers. It's already packaged. Looks like crab,too. This would be a great appetizer to serve while you're finishing up with your Easter Dinner preparations.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 package(s) 16oz. sour cream
1 package(s) 8oz. cream cheese room temp
1 package(s) dry ranch dressing
1 package(s) imitation crab meat (it's cooked already)
- ritz crackers to serve on

Steps:

  • In bowl, beat or whisk all ingredients EXCEPT fish.
  • Chop up meat (more like chicken for chicken salad) Stir until blended.
  • Chill a couple hours while flavors marinate. Serve with crackers.
