Steps:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- In a saucepan, combine flour and sugar. Stir in milk, butter, salt and vanilla. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
- Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baking for 25 minutes.

Brown sugar pie is what you make when you want a little something for dessert but don't have a lot of ingredients. This Southern pie is like pecan pie without the pecans. The smaller bites that bars provide give you just enough of this sweet treat.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9-inch baking pan with foil, extending foil over edges. Lightly coat foil with cooking spray.
- For crust, in a food processor combine flour, granulated sugar, and 1/2 tsp. of the salt. Pulse to combine. Add cold butter; pulse until crumbly. Press evenly into the prepared pan. Bake about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
- For filling, in a medium bowl lightly beat eggs. Whisk in brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, almond extract, and the remaining 1/2 tsp. salt until combined. Pour over hot crust.
- Bake about 35 minutes or until filling slightly jiggles when pan is tapped. Cool in pan on a wire rack (filling will continue to set as it cools). Use foil to lift out uncut bars. Cut into bars.
