BIG MAC PIZZA – RECIPE CHAMPIONS



Big Mac Pizza – Recipe Champions image

Yield 1 12" pizza

Number Of Ingredients 20

3 cups all purpose flour
3 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 cup minced onion
10-12 slices dill pickles
1/4 cup ketchup
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup minced pickles or relish
1 tbsp mustard
1 tsp white vinegar
3 tsp minced onion
1 tbsp sesame seeds
1 egg, beaten
1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
1 lb ground beef
6 slices medium cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a small bowl combine the warm water with the sugar and the yeast. Let it froth up for about 5-10 minutes. In another bowl, combine the flour and the salt.
  • When the yeast has frothed, add the oil to the yeast, then slowly add the wet contents into the bowl of flour and salt. Continue to add the wet to the dry mixture until the dough pulls together.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes or until a tight dough ball forms.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it for about an hour or until the dough rises and doubles.
  • In a bowl, combine the ketchup, mustard, relish or minced pickles, 1 teaspoon of minced onions, vinegar and mayonnaise. Mix well and set aside to let the flavors combine.
  • Add half the diced onions to a medium high frying pan. Cook for about 3 minutes and then add the ground beef.
  • Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 5 minutes or until the onions are soft and see through, and there is no longer any pink meat left over. Drain the liquid from the pan and turn off heat.
  • In the meantime, preheat the oven to 425º F.
  • Turn the dough out on a floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a circle. Using the egg wash, paint the perimeter of the pizza dough. Add a substantial amount of the sesame seeds making sure the egg wash holds it in place.
  • Cook the pizza dough in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  • When the pizza bottom comes out, add the sliced cheese to the pizza dough. Try and keep the edges of the dough clean (meaning no cheese). Add the ground beef and onion mixture to the center of the dough followed by some of the shredded cheddar cheese, place it back in the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
  • When the pizza comes out of the oven add some of the remaining minced onions, shredded lettuce and sliced pickles. Cover in big mac sauce and enjoy!

1 thin pizza crust
1TBSP + 1 tsp olive oil divided
21/2 tsp garlic powder divided
1lb lean ground beef
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 small sweet onion minced
2 dill pickles sliced into rounds
2 tsp sesame seeds
3/4 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
1/2 cup Hellman's or Mayonnaise
2 TBSP relish
1+1/2 TBSP yellow mustard
1/2 TBSP BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Rays)
1+1/2 TBSP apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp salt

Steps:

  • Pour a drizzle of olive oil on your store bought crust and brush to cover crust
  • Sprinkle garlic powder
  • Bake crust for approximately 5-7 minutes at 425 degree oven
  • In the meantime, add 1 TBSP olive oil to a skillet and the ground beef
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, tsp salt to beef and cook until browned, set aside
  • Cover the pizza crust with shredded cheddar, top with ground beef, minced onion, and sliced pickles.
  • Bake in 425 degree oven until cheese is melted and crust is desired texture. Approximately 10-12 minutes
  • Remove from oven, top with drizzle of secret sauce, sprinkle sesame seeds and shredded iceberg lettuce.
  • Cut into 8 pieces and serve immediately
  • Use the secret sauce for dipping as well

I would freeze the pizza for sure and pack it in one of those insulated totes. If it gets past customs, the pizza will be edible. You can try the same thing with the Big Mac, but I doubt it’ll reheat decently. I wouldn’t try the KFC meal. You might just take back some hamburger sauce or other condiments he can’t easily find in his country.
