How To Make Bath Bombs For Kids: Best Bath Bomb Recipe F… image

This is a great bath bomb recipe for kids! This recipe makes about 4 small round bath bombs or 8 half ones like pictured here.

Provided by Eat Quick Healthy

Total Time 10 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 0S

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup of Baking Soda
1/2 cup of Citric Acid
2 tablespoons of Epsom Salts
2 tablespoons of melted Coconut Oil
12 drops of Essential Oil (suggestions below)
OPTIONAL: A pinch of Beet Root Powder (for pink bath bombs)
or Brazilian Purple Clay (for purple)
Spray bottle of Water
Bath Bomb Molds
2 Bowls

Steps:

  • Mix the baking soda, citric acid and epsom salts together in a bowl until well combined. In a second bowl, mix the melted coconut oil and essential oils.
  • Very slowly, add the wet ingredients into the dry bowl as you mix with your hands. You don’t want it to start fizzing yet. You want to make a crumbly, wet sand like consistency that just holds together.
  • If it’s a little dry after adding the coconut oil mixture (as in it’s not quite wet enough to hold together), spray in a tiny amount of water and mix again. Add more water very slowly until it’s the right consistency. If you don’t have a spray bottle, you can use a teaspoon – just 1/2 a teaspoon at a time. You are aiming for the mixture to be able to mold into a shape and it’ll stick – just.
  • If you want coloring, this is the time to add it. I recommend a pinch of beet root powder for pink or Brazilian purple clay powder for purple to keep it all natural.
  • You could also use mica powder or a couple of drops of food coloring (more about this below). Multi-color bath bombs can be awesome for kids so you could also split the mixture in two here (or more) and add different colors. Use color sparingly so you don’t end up staining your bath.
  • Pack your bath bomb molds. Add the mixture then pat it in so there aren’t any big air bubbles. Fill them right to the brim.
  • If you want to make round bombs, put the two sides of the mold together. I like to have a different color on each side.
  • Let it sit for half a minute and then twist each side of the mold in different directions to remove half of the mold. Ideally, keep the other half on it while it sets. If you need to reuse the mold (so can’t keep it on), put the half you took off first back on and then twist the other half off. It should then be easy to take off both parts of the mold.
  • If it breaks apart, you can try again.
  • If they have a flat bottom, put them on a baking tray. Otherwise, you need a soft surface if you can’t keep a round bomb in half of the mold.
  • Leave for at least 12 hours. Remove any molds.
  • Store in an airtight container.?

Worlds Simplest Fizzy Bath Bombs Using Kitchen Ingredients ... image

My kids love bath bombs but I can't continue to pay $6.00 per bath so I decided to try this recipe on Easter Monday. Due to the occasion, I used those plastic Easter Eggs that were left over as molds along with my muffin tins as molds. I hear that bath bombs are equally good just dried as a loose powder and separated into little bags.

Total Time 24 hours 10 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 24 hours

Yield 8 large bombs, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup citric acid (can be found in wine making shops or where you buy canning supplies)
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup light oil (canola, olive, sunflower, whatever is handy)
1/2 cup cornstarch
food coloring (optional)
scented oil (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl by hand.
  • Mix oil and scent together. You can choose to add the food color to oil now OR wait and add it to the mixture after everything else is combined in the next step. (If you add the food color to the oil now you will achieve a more uniform color. If you add to the food color after you have mixed the oil into the dry ingredients in the next step you will get a more speckled effect).
  • Mix the oil mixture into the dry ingredients and mix very well with a fork. If you did not add the food color in the last step, do so now and mix.
  • Now for the fun part! You can mix in some dried flowers if you like, I don't because I hate the mess in my tub. Press the bath bomb mixture into molds. In the middle of the bomb you can push in a little bath pearl or small toy or plastic flower (kids LOVE this). I have also tried sprinkling a little bath salt into the mold before you press in the bath bomb for decoration. Dry over night.
  • Separate from molds and they are ready to drop into your bath! Simple huh!
