How to bake baby back ribs in the oven.

3 pounds baby back ribs
2 sliced onions
4 sliced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
black pepper
Salt to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to your desired temperature, using the chart above.
  • Combine all of the seasoning ingredients in a small bowl and coat the ribs in the seasoning, massaging the spices into the meat on all sides.
  • Plae the ribs, onions and garlic on a large piece of alumium foil and wrap and seal closed. Place on a baking sheet and roast according to the chart above.
  • Unwrap the meat, let it rest for 5-10 minutes, slice the ribs and serve.

2 cups sliced onions
2 cups ketchup
2 cups water
4 teaspoons salt
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
½ cup white vinegar
½ cup dark brown sugar
4 teaspoons dry mustard
4 pounds pork spareribs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, combine onions, ketchup, water, salt, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, and mustard. Split ribs down the center between the bones.
  • Heat a large lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat. Add ribs and sear until browned. This may have to be done in several batches.
  • Place ribs in a single layer in two baking pans or casserole dishes. Pour half of the sauce over the ribs, reserve remainder.
  • Bake ribs in preheated oven for 3 hours. Turn and baste meat every twenty minutes with remaining sauce, using all sauce by two hours. Continue turning and basting ribs using sauce in the pan during the last hour of baking.

If your ribs have a thin membrane over the bones on the backside, remove by carefully sliding a knife under membrane and then peel it away.  In a small bowl stir together brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, pepper, paprika, mustard powder, and cayenne. Rub mixture all over ribs and place on prepared baking sheet. Cover with foil and bake until very tender, 2 hours.  Meanwhile make barbecue sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all sauce ingredients together. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 1 hour. Turn oven to broil. Remove foil from ribs and brush both sides with barbecue sauce. Broil until sauce just starts to caramelize, 2 to 4 minutes.
