Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad Recipe | Allrecipes image

This three-layer salad includes a pretzel crust, cream cheese center, and strawberry top.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 ½ cups crushed pretzels
4 ½ tablespoons white sugar
¾ cup butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (6 ounce) package strawberry flavored Jell-O®
2 cups boiling water
1 (16 ounce) package frozen strawberries

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Mix together the pretzels, 4 1/2 tablespoons sugar and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Set aside to cool completely.
  • In a medium bowl, beat the sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over the cooled crust. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the gelatin mix and boiling water. Mix in frozen strawberries, and stir until thawed. Pour over cream cheese mixture in pan. Refrigerate until completely chilled, at least 1 hour.

I gave a classic salad a holiday twist by making green, white and red layers. The combination of salty, sweet, creamy in this strawberry-lime pretzel dessert and fruity is always a hit! —Renee Conneally, Northville, Michigan

3/4 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups crushed pretzels
LIME LAYER:
1 cup boiling water
1 package (3 ounces) lime gelatin
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
14 drops green food coloring, optional
CREAM CHEESE LAYER:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
STRAWBERRY LAYER:
2 cups boiling water
2 packages (3 ounces each) strawberry gelatin
4 cups sliced fresh strawberries
Optional: Additional whipped topping, strawberries and miniature pretzels

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Mix melted butter and sugar; stir in pretzels. Press onto bottom of an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. Bake 10 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. , Meanwhile, for lime layer, in a large bowl, add boiling water to lime gelatin; stir 2 minutes to completely dissolve. Refrigerate until partially set, about 1 hour. In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add cooled lime gelatin mixture; beat until smooth. Fold in whipped topping; if desired, add green food coloring. Spread over crust. Refrigerate until set but not firm, 25-30 minutes. , For cream cheese layer, in a bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread over lime layer. Refrigerate until set., For strawberry layer, in a large bowl, add boiling water to strawberry gelatin; stir 2 minutes to completely dissolve. Refrigerate until partially set, about 1 hour. Stir in strawberries. Gently spoon over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate, covered, until firm, 2-4 hours. To serve, cut into squares. If desired, top with additional whipped topping, strawberries and miniature pretzels.
