Butter Cookies Recipe: How to Make It - Taste of Home image

This great butter cookie recipe is a favorite of my nephews, who love the creamy frosting. —Ruth Griggs, South Hill, Virginia

Yield about 6-1/2 dozen.

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
FROSTING:
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 4 tablespoons 2% milk
Red food coloring, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture., Using a cookie press fitted with a heart disk, press dough 1 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until set but not brown, 6-8 minutes. Cool on wire racks., For frosting, beat butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla and enough milk to reach a spreading consistency. If desired, tint with food coloring. Decorate cookies as desired.

A banana Split of any kind will always bring out the kid in all of us....if you don't believe me try this one.....I promise you, you will be smacking your lips for more! Number Of Ingredients 10

1 stick(s) oleo
2 cup(s) graham cracker crumbs
1 pound(s) of powdered sugar
2 - eggs
2 stick(s) oleo, softened
5 - bananas
1 large can of crushed pineapple, drained
1 large container non-dairy whipped topping
1 cup(s) chopped nuts
1 cup(s) chopped maraschino cherries

Steps:

  • Melt 1 stick of oleo in 9x13 inch pan.
  • Add cracker crumbs.
  • Mix and pat over bottom of pan.
  • Mix sugar, eggs, and 2 sticks of oleo. Beat 15 minutes.
  • Pour over crust.
  • Slice bananas and arrange on top of filling.
  • Top with pineapple.
  • Spread non-dairy whipped topping on top of pineapple.
  • Sprinkle with nuts and cherries.
  • Cover and refrigerate over night.
  • Enjoy this yummy treat!
