1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons freshly grated orange zest
1/3 cup cold Land O Lakes® Butter cut into chunks
1/2 cup raisins
2 large Land O Lakes® Eggs slightly beaten
4 to 6 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Half & Half
Orange Butter
1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter softened
2 tablespoons orange marmalade

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and orange zest in bowl. Cut in 1/3 cup butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in raisins, 1 beaten egg and just enough half & half until mixture is moistened.
  • Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 times. Roll into 9-inch circle; cut into 12 wedges. Place 1-inch apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Brush with remaining beaten egg. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from baking sheet.
  • Stir together all orange butter ingredients in bowl; serve with warm scones.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup dried apple, chopped
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees; spray a large cookie sheet with nonstick.

  • Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the apples.
  • In a small bowl, combine the applesauce, buttermilk and egg; mix well.
  • Add to the dry ingredients; stir just until moistened.
  • The dough will be sticky.
  • Place the dough on the cookie sheet.
  • With wet fingers, shape it into an 8-inch circle about 3/4-inch thick.
  • In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top of the dough.
  • With a sharp knife, score the top surface into 8 wedges, cutting about 1/4-inch deep.
  • Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cut into wedges.
  • Serve warm.
