BOURBON BALLS RECIPE | MYRECIPES
In the early days of the South, the unique corn whiskey made in Kentucky was often referred to as Bourbon, the name of the county in which it was distilled. Today, it means the "good stuff" – or whiskey aged in charred oak barrels for at least two years. Hardly a Christmas can pass in the South without these traditional ball-shaped, bourbon-flavored pecan cookies ending up on a dessert bar or in a gift box.

MAPLE-PECAN BOURBON BALLS RECIPE - NYT COOKING
The bourbon ball was created in 1938 by Ruth Hanly Booe, a former Kentucky school teacher turned candy maker. The creamy original was whisky-spiked, covered with chocolate and topped with a pecan. Modern-day versions, like this one, are simpler to put together: Vanilla wafers, toasted pecans, cocoa powder, confectioners' sugar and bourbon are combined in a food processor, rolled into balls and dunked in melted chocolate or rolled in confectioners' sugar. Ours also includes a bit of maple syrup for added depth. Bar chocolate, as opposed to chocolate chips, works much better for enrobing candies because chocolate chips have less cocoa butter and become too thick to coat evenly when melted.

  • For the icing, sift confectioners' sugar into a small bowl. Whisk in milk, water, or lemon juice, 1 tablespoon at a time, until smooth and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. If too thin, whisk in more sugar; if too thick, add more liquid. Spread over cookies with back of a spoon. Add other decorations, if desired. Let the icing harden, about 20 minutes.

ROTI RECIPE- HOW TO MAKE ROTI/CHAPATI - COOK WITH MANALI
2020-03-14 · The biggest reason is that it wasn’t rolled evenly. If it’s rolled too thin, to the point where edges are almost tearing apart (and the center of the roti is thick), then the roti won’t puff. Make sure that its thickness is same throughout, that’s a good roti which will puff. It also won’t puff if the dough was too tight/hard.
