This was found under the heading of salads and at first I thought it was served cold, but it is indeed a hot salad. The recipe includes one of my least favorite veggies, mushrooms, and I will omit them when I make this dish. Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/4 cup(s) medium shell macaroni
4 ounce(s) fully cooked polish kielbasa sausage links
3 slice(s) bacon
1/2 cup(s) sliced fresh mushrooms
4 teaspoon(s) sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
dash(es) pepper
1/3 cup(s) water
2 tablespoon(s) vinegar

Steps:

  • Cook the macaroni according to package directions; drain. Meanwhile, slice the sausage into 1/2 inch slices; set aside.
  • In a 10-inch skillet cook bacon until crisp; drain fat, reserving 1 Tbsp. drippings in skillet. Crumble the bacon and set aside.
  • Cook the mushrooms in the reserved bacon drippings until tender. Stir in sugar, flour, salt and pepper; stir in water and vinegar. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly, and then cook and stir 1 minute more.
  • Stir in the cooked macaroni, Polish sausage, and bacon; heat through. Turn hot mixture into a serving dish and garnish with snipped parsley if desired. Serve while hot.

1 red bell pepper, diced
granulated garlic
1 lb kielbasa
14 ounces diced tomatoes
15 ounces tomato sauce
8 ounces whole wheat penne

Steps:

  • Spray pan with cooking spray and saute sausage; drain as much grease as possible. Put 1 large diced onion and one diced red bell pepper in pan with sausage and cooked until the tender; sprinkle with garlic powder. Add can diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Cook pasta separately and add in at end of cooking time.
