If tiny hairs have not been removed, place pear in a strainer and rinse and shake under warm water for 1-2 minutes. Follow with a rinse of cold water. Allow pear to drain. Peel, rinse, and drain again. Muddle pear for several minutes until a slightly liquid purée remains.
