Here's what you need: cocktail frank, pizza dough, water, baking soda, egg, sea salt

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package cocktail frank, mini hot dogs
1 lb pizza dough, 1 ball
5 cups water
¼ cup baking soda
1 egg, beaten
sea salt, to taste

Steps:

  • Bring pizza dough to room temperature.
  • Cut the dough into strips and stretch/roll out.
  • Roll up mini hotdogs in pizza dough so the dough wraps around twice - leaving the ends sticking out and cutting off any excess.
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet until ready to boil.
  • Bring water to a light boil. Add in Baking Soda.
  • Once dissolved, boil wrapped hot dogs in water mixture for 20-30 seconds each (working in small batches).
  • Remove and place back on baking tray. Brush each lightly with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 15-20 minutes until the dough is nicely browned.
  • Enjoy!

2 Tbsp sea salt
1 (11-oz) roll refrigerated prepared pizza dough
1 (12-oz) package beef cocktail franks
2 Tbsp melted butter
1 egg beaten
¼ cup baking soda
Flaky sea salt
White Sesame seeds
Hot or yellow mustard, for dipping

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 2 tbsp sea salt.
  • Stretch dough on a cutting board and let it sit for about 20 min. Cut each piece of the pizza dough into strips. Wrap each cocktail frank in the dough, rolling from the bottom up and wrapping about 2 times creating a ball shape.
  • Add baking soda to boiling water and cook franks over medium heat for 30 seconds to a minute. Remove from the pot with a slotted spoon and put on a baking sheet. Lightly brush with egg mixture and lightly sprinkle with sesame seeds and flaky salt.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes. Serve with yellow mustard for dipping.

Flatten out and wrap the dough around the dogs. Meanwhile, in a large, shallow skillet, add 2 inches of water. Whisk in baking soda and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to a simmer, and in small batches, cook pigs until dough is puffy, 30 seconds. Transfer to baking sheet using a slotted spoon and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Repeat process until all pigs are cooked. Bake until deeply golden and shiny, 22 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, make cheese sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute. Stir in milk and bring to a simmer. Once it starts to thicken, turn off heat and whisk in cheese until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Serve dogs with cheese sauce.
