Total Time 30 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 12-oz cans Frozen Grape Juice
4 c Sugar
1 ts Dry yeast
Water
1 Balloon
1 Glass gallon jug

Steps:

  • "Dissolve yeast in 1 cup of warm water. Mix all other ingredients together in the gallon jug. Pour yeast/water mixture into jug. Fill jug halfway full with warm water. Shake well to mix ingredients and dissolve sugar. Fill the jug to the lower neck with water. Put a toy balloon on the neck of the jug. Poke a small hole in the balloon with a needle. Place in an area that will not be disturbed for three weeks. The balloon will inflate from the gas while fermenting. When the balloon starts to deflate the wine is finished. Do not move the jug while fermenting. This recipe came from my great grand mother in Germany. It was passed on by my grandmother, to mother, then me. I hope that you enjoy it. It is a little potent for wine! Posted to MM-Recipes Digest V4 #335 by [email protected] (Mary Lu) on Dec 26, 1997"

MOMMA'S WINE CAKE RECIPE | ALLRECIPES

Momma's Wine Cake Recipe | Allrecipes image

This simple cake works perfectly during the holidays, on a buffet table or in a picnic basket! And you won't believe the aroma that comes from your oven during baking! The alcohol bakes off and leaves just the flavor. It's very moist and has been a favorite birthday request in our house for over 20 years!

Yield 1 -10 inch bundt cake

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (18.25 ounce) package moist white cake mix
1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
¾ cup vegetable oil
¾ cup white wine
4 eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 10 inch bundt pan.
  • In medium bowl combine the cake mix, instant vanilla pudding, nutmeg, vegetable oil, white wine, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer for 5 minutes.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cake cool on rack in pan for 10 minutes then remove cake from pan to rack. Let cake cool completely before slicing. Garnish sliced cake with a dollop of whipped cream or dust with confectioners' sugar and sliced strawberries.
  • Variation: You can also "flour" the pan after it's been greased with cocoa powder or a cinnamon sugar mixture for a textured crust. Simply fill a clean salt shaker for easy application. This will eliminate that "white stuff" on the outside of your baked cake which makes for a prettier cake.

MOM'S CHOCOLATE CAKE RECIPE - MARCIA KIESEL | FOOD & WINE
This is a real old-fashioned American classic chocolate cake recipe. It's very moist, very chocolatey, a snap to make, and best baked the day before serving. Marcia Kiesel acquired the recipe from her friend Joyce Cole, who got it from her mother. In 2018, Food & Wine named this recipe one of our 40 best: Longtime F&W Test Kitchen Supervisor Marcia Kiesel was credited for this very moist, very chocolaty, easy-to-make layer cake, but the recipe originated with a waitress at the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck, New York, who got it from her mother. The secret is unsweetened chocolate in the batter, which lends the cake a rich, deep chocolate flavor. The thick, creamy frosting hits just the right balance, but Kiesel says, “the original was served right out of the pan, no frosting at all, and that’s my favorite way to eat it.”
