1 cup butter
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
3 eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and add 2 cups of the flour and the sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time until well blended. Slowly mix in the remaining 2 cups of flour.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/4 of an inch. Cut cookies using cookie cutters and place 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
  • Bake in preheated oven until cookies are light brown at the edges, 12 to 15 minutes (depending on their size).

Delicous little bites of butter cookie with yummy icing you can doctor up to suit your taste. I like almond and peppermint. I usually put the frosting into a piping bag and make swirls on the top.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups butter
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups cornstarch
2/3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 -3 tablespoon milk
1/2-1 teaspoon flavoring

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cream butter until fluffy.
  • Add in powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Mix in flour and cornstarch slowly.
  • Roll into 1" balls and place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until bottoms are light brown.
  • Cool.
  • For icing, melt butter and mix in flavoring (i.e. almond, peppermint.) If its too stiff, mix in a little milk at a time.
