Takeout pizza can't compete with this homemade pepperoni calzone recipe! With just 15 minutes of prep, you can whip up an easy weeknight meal that will satisfy everyone around your table. Make our sausage and pepperoni calzone for dinner tonight!

1/2 lb bulk Italian pork sausage
1 cup marinara sauce
1/2 cup bite-size thinly sliced pepperoni
1/4 cup shredded fresh basil leaves
1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (6 oz)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. In 10-inch skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, stirring frequently, until no longer pink; drain. Stir in 1/2 cup of the marinara sauce, the pepperoni and basil. Set aside.
  • Unroll dough. Cut dough in half crosswise; cut each section in half lengthwise. On cookie sheet, press or roll each dough portion into 7x5-inch rectangle. Spoon sausage mixture and cheese on one side of each rectangle. Fold dough over filling; press edges firmly with fork to seal.
  • Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until golden brown. Heat remaining 1/2 cup marinara sauce; serve with warm calzones.

1 pound mild or spicy bulk pork sausage
1 small onion, chopped
4 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup quick-cooking grits
3 cans (4 ounces each) chopped green chiles
1-1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
1-1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Chopped fresh cilantro

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a large skillet, cook sausage and onion over medium heat for 6-8 minutes or until sausage is no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles; drain., In a large saucepan, bring water and salt to a boil. Slowly stir in grits. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook, covered, about 5 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat., Add green chiles, 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, 3/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese, butter and pepper sauce; stir until cheese is melted. Stir in eggs, then sausage mixture., Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses; sprinkle with paprika. Bake, uncovered, until golden brown and set, 50-60 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with cilantro.
