3 Cups Vanilla Frosting dyed Yellow (dye it to match the color of the yellow starbursts)
1.5 cups Chocolate Frosting (frosting you have left over from filling and crumb coating your cake)
28 Tootsie Rolls
8 pink Starbursts
16 yellow Starbursts
Powdered Sugar (use as needed)

I was a Gm at TRU, and to reward my crew for helping me set up at new store in less than 7 days, I thought i was a good Idea to Bring Jeffery the giraffe, a cupcake that looked just like him :) The whole crew thought that they where perfect and yummy ! these could be great for a birthday party or a baby shower or just for that special person that Loves giraffe's.

CAKE MIX
1 box(es) duncan hines yellow cake mix
3 large eggs
1 1/3 cup(s) water
1/3 cup(s) cooking oil
BUTTER CREAM FROSTING
2 stick(s) soft unsweetened butter
3-4 cup(s) powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1 tablespoon(s) vanilla extract
4 tablespoon(s) milk
6 dash(es) yellow food coloring (color to your desire)
CANDIES FOR DECORATING
1 package(s) reese's pieces candies
1 box(es) vanilla wafers cookies
1 box(es) nutty butter cookies
1 package(s) chocolate almond bark
1 bottle(s) edible cake pearls
1 package(s) candy corn

Steps:

  • PREHEAT oven 325°F for dark or coated pans*. (Use baking cups for cupcakes) BLEND dry mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl at low speed until moistened (about 30 seconds). BEAT at medium speed for 2 minutes. POUR batter in pans and bake immediately. BAKE for 18-21 Min. COOL in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
  • While cupcakes are baking Mix together Butter cream frosting. 1.Beat butter for a few minutes with a mixer with the paddle attachment on medium speed. Add 3 cups of powdered sugar and turn your mixer on the lowest speed (so the sugar doesn’t blow everywhere) until the sugar has been incorporated with the butter. Increase mixer speed to medium and add vanilla extract, salt, and 2 tablespoons of milk and beat for 3 minutes. If your frosting needs a more stiff consistency, add remaining sugar. If your frosting needs to be thinned out, add remaining milk 1 tablespoons at a time. add food coloring last.
  • Frost each cupcake with butter cream frosting, and add Reese's pieces ( their spots) on frosting before the icing gets to hard to stick to cupcakes. Once all cupcakes are frosted, set aside.
  • Take the Vanilla Wafer Cookies ,Nutty butter cookies and Almond Bark . Melt almond bark in the oven at 250* til softened, connect Nutty Butters(heads) to the Vanilla Wafer Cookies (necks) and let dry, by placing the heads upside down on wax paper. (nutty butters on the wax paper, weight will help these stay straight) to cool completely,
  • Once Heads are hard, Add eyes (almond bark as glue and decorative edible pearls) and add ears ( almond bark as glue and candy corn, upside down to make pointy ears) **I added two little almond bark noses** (just two little dots) Once dried, add the mane (hair on neck) carefully place in center of the cupcake.
  • And there you have Giraffe Cupcakes.
