1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two cookie sheets.
In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Beat in sour cream, lemon extract, and vanilla.
Reduce speed to low; beat in flour mixture just until blended.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoons, 1 inch apart, on prepared cookie sheets.
Bake until set and golden around edges, 10-12 minutes.
Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; with wide spatula, transfer cookie to wire racks to cool completely.

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
FROSTING:
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 4 tablespoons 2% milk
Red food coloring, optional

Steps:

Preheat oven to 375°. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture., Using a cookie press fitted with a heart disk, press dough 1 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until set but not brown, 6-8 minutes. Cool on wire racks., For frosting, beat butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla and enough milk to reach a spreading consistency. If desired, tint with food coloring. Decorate cookies as desired.
