Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Grease cookie sheets with shortening.
- In small saucepan, melt chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in melted chocolate, flour, vanilla and egg.
- Shape dough into 30 (1-inch) balls. Pull a little bit of dough from each of 15 balls to make tails; set aside. Cut about 1/4-inch slit in same balls, using scissors. Separate dough at slit for cat's ears. Place balls about 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
- Place remaining balls below each cat head on cookie sheets for body. Shape small pieces of dough into 15 (2 1/2-inch-long) ropes. Place end of rope under each body.
- Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until set. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool 30 minutes.
- Use sprinkles to make eyes and baking bits to make noses. Add yellow licorice pieces for whiskers. Add pink licorice for tongues.

This is the perfect recipe for beginner-bakers. The design is completely customizable. You can take this idea and use sugar cookie dough, or use colored buttercreams. Feel free to add M&M's to the top of the cookie cake before baking.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325. In a stand mixer, combine cookie dough and corn syrup.
- Line a 12x17 rimmed cookie sheet with parchment paper. Press cookie dough mixture onto the baking pan. Bake 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool completely. Trim all edges of cookie cake.
- Frost edges of cookie cake, alternating white and fudge frosting. Decorate center of cake as preferred.

- Using serrated knife, cut rounded top off cake to level surface; place cut side down. Cut cake as shown in diagram; arrange pieces on serving tray. Attach pieces together with a small amount of frosting. Spread a thin layer of frosting over top and sides to seal in crumbs. Refrigerate or freeze cake 30 to 60 minutes. Frost entire cake with remaining frosting. Use yellow fruit snacks or gumdrop slices for eyes, black gumdrop for nose and shoestring licorice for whiskers, lines on eyes and front paws. Store loosely covered.
