I just happened to see this Double Chocolate Coca Cola Cake recipe on facebook from an old school friend. Her mother use to make this cake when we were kids and I remembered way back then when she brought it over for us to try. It was so good and brought back happy memories.

1 cup(s) coca-cola (not diet)
1/2 cup(s) cooking oil
1 stick(s) butter
3 tablespoon(s) cocoa
2 cup(s) sugar
2 cup(s) plain flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
2 - eggs
1/2 cup(s) buttermilk
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla.
- frosting ingredients
1 stick(s) butter
2 1/3 tablespoon(s) cocoa
6 tablespoon(s) cream or milk
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
3 3/4 cup(s) confectioners sugar

Steps:

In a saucepan mix cola, oil, butter and cocoa and bring to boil. In bowl combine sugar, flour and salt. Pour the Cola mixture over the flour mixture and beat well.
Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla and beat well. Pour mixture into a greased and floured 13x9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
Frosting: In a saucepan, combine butter, cocoa, and milk. Heat until butter melts. Beat in remaining ingredients and spread on cake while still warm.

nonstick cooking spray
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1 c. butter
1 can Coke
1/3 c. cocoa powder
2 large eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 can Coke
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
4 c. powdered sugar

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 9”-x-13” pan with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, Coke, and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil, whisking continuously. Remove from heat and whisk in eggs and buttermilk. Pour into flour mixture and mix until combined.
Transfer to prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
While baking, make the glaze: In a medium saucepan, bring Coke to a boil. Allow it to reduce by half, about 15 minutes. Add butter, cocoa powder, vanilla and salt and stir to combine. Pour over powdered sugar and whisk until combined.
Pour frosting over cake while still warm. Wait about 10 minutes for icing to set. Slice and serve.
