CHINESE-STYLE STEAMED FISH RECIPE | ALLRECIPES

Chinese-Style Steamed Fish Recipe | Allrecipes image

This is a basic and common Chinese recipe for steamed fish. My father taught me how to make this; it is easy to prepare, hard to mess up, and very versatile. Serve over white rice, using some of the sauce mixture from the steaming bowl.

Total Time 35 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 20 minutes

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1?½ pounds halibut, cut into 4 pieces
3 green onions, cut into 3 inch lengths
2 fresh mushrooms, sliced
6 leaves napa cabbage, sliced into 4 inch pieces
2 slices fresh ginger root, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
? cup water
crushed red pepper flakes to taste
fresh cilantro sprigs, for garnish

Steps:

  • Arrange 1/2 of the green onions on the bottom of the steaming bowl (it is important to steam in a container in order to retain the steam and juices around the fish). Place 1/2 of the mushrooms and Napa cabbage sections on top of the onions. Place fish on top of the vegetables. Sprinkle ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes over fish. Top with the remaining green onions, mushrooms, and napa cabbage. Drizzle soy sauce and water over everything.
  • Place steam bowl in a steamer over 1 inch of boiling water, and cover. Steam for 15 to 20 minutes, or until fish flakes easily. Garnish with cilantro, if desired.

MICROWAVE STEAMED RED FISH RECIPE - SIMPLE CHINESE FOOD

Microwave steamed red fish recipe - Simple Chinese Food image

Although most families now have dual stoves, sometimes they are not enough when they are nervous. In addition to heating leftovers in the microwave oven, there is actually no problem in making dishes. For example, I have cooked chicken wings and cakes. Steamed egg custard and steamed fish are also stress-free. Today, I will introduce you a simple and easy-to-learn microwave oven dish-steamed red fish.

Provided by Brother Xin's mother (from Tencent.)

Total Time 15 minutes

Yield 3

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 piece Red fish
1 spoon Cooking wine
3 spoons Soy sauce
1 piece ginger
2 spoons Peanut oil
3 pcs shallot

Steps:

  • The fish is slaughtered and washed, and some flower knives are drawn on the fish to facilitate the taste. Cut the ginger into shreds, cut the green onions into sections, and do the preliminary work.
  • Rub the ginger on the fish body, use 3 tablespoons of light soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of cooking wine, pour the fish body, and marinate for more than 30 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, put 2 tablespoons of peanut oil, shredded ginger and white onion. High heat in the microwave for 1 minute. You can smell the scent of fried ginger and green onion. Take it out and set aside.
  • Fill some of the fragrant scallion oil and shredded ginger in the belly of the fish, and spread the rest on the body. 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce + 2 tablespoons of fish sauce to make the sauce, pour the fish body. Both light soy sauce and fish sauce are salty, if the taste is heavy, you can add an appropriate amount of salt. I didn't use salt.
  • High heat in the microwave for 8 minutes (5 minutes if the fish is small).
