Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 pounds ground chuck, preferably 80% lean
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup thinly sliced yellow onion
1 teaspoon Emeril's Creole Seasoning (sold in supermarkets) or other Creole seasoning
Fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, cut into 8 slices
4 hamburger buns
Down Home Chili

Steps:

  • Form the ground beef into 8 patties about 1/3 inch thick. Preheat a griddle or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the oil to the griddle. Season the onion slices with 1/4 teaspoon each of the Creole seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add the onions to the griddle and cook, stirring until lightly golden, about 8 minutes.
  • Lightly season the patties on both sides with the remaining 3/4 teaspoon Creole seasoning, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and the Worcestershire. Push the onions off to one side, then place the patties on the hot griddle and cook for 3 to 4 minutes for medium, turning once halfway through. Flip the patties again, add 1 slice of cheese to the top of each, and continue to cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until cheese is melted. Place the hamburger buns, cut sides down, on the griddle, and cook until warmed through and lightly toasted, about 2 minutes.
  • For each burger, place one toasted bun on a serving plate. Place one patty on the bottom half of the bun, spoon chili on top of the patty, and top with a second patty and more chili. Place a portion of onions on the chili, and finish off with the top of the bun. Serve immediately.

Chili Cheese Burger Bowls Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: olive oil, white onion, garlic, ground beef, crushed tomato, tomato paste, light brown sugar, salt, ground black pepper, paprika, chili powder, ground cumin, water, grated parmesan cheese, ground beef, salt, pepper, shredded cheddar cheese, brioche burger buns

Provided by Claire Nolan

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 19

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup white onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 lb ground beef
14.5 oz crushed tomato
6 oz tomato paste
1 tablespoon light brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ cup water
2 ? cups grated parmesan cheese
2 lb ground beef, divided into 8 patties
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
8 brioche burger buns

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot with a lid over medium heat until shimmering. Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 2 minutes, until translucent.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, salt, ground pepper, paprika, chili powder, ground cumin, and stir to combine. Add water and stir. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Set a wire cooling rack on top of a baking sheet. Place a metal 1-cup (240 ml) measuring cup upside down on top of the cooling rack.
  • In a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat, pour ? cup (35 g) of Parmesan in the center of the pan and spread out into a thin circle, about 5 inches across. Without disturbing the cheese, melt for 2-3 minutes, or until golden and fully melted.
  • Once the cheese is fully melted, run a spatula along the edges of the cheese and shake the pan to loosen the cheese circle. Carefully slide the melted cheese over the inverted measuring cup to form a cheese bowl. DO NOT TOUCH, it is extremely hot. Set aside and let cool completely, about ten minutes. Repeat with the rest of the Parmesan to make 8 bowls.
  • Lightly grease a large skillet over high heat, then add the beef patties (in batches, if necessary) and season generously with salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes without disturbing, then flip and cook for another 3 minutes, or until the internal temperature has reached at least 165°F (75°C).
  • To assemble, place a bottom burger bun on a plate and put a cheese bowl on top. Lay a burger patty inside the cheese bowl and top with a spoonful of chili, a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, and the top bun.
  • Enjoy!

ULTIMATE CHILI CHEESEBURGER - BIGOVEN
"3 RECIPES IN ONE! Why eat fast food burgers when you can eat this? It's tender, fresh, juicy, and delicious. Better than anything fast food you'll ever taste. Where I live in NC, if you order them all-the-way, this is how they come. Good ones are getting extremely hard to find, though, so after years of searching and experimenting, this is as good as it gets! Adding a panade (a paste of bread and milk) to the ground beef creates burgers that are juicy and tender even when well-done. "

  • "1. Turn all burners to high, close lid, and heat until very hot, about 15 minutes. Use grill brush to scrape cooking grate clean. Lightly dip wad of paper towels in vegetable oil; holding wad with tongs, wipe cooking grate. Leave primary burner on high, turn other burner(s) to low. 2. Meanwhile, mash bread and milk in large bowl with fork until homogeneous (you should have about 1/4 cup). Stir in salt, pepper, garlic, steak sauce, and reserved bacon fat; mix until thoroughly blended. 3. Break up beef into small pieces over bread mixture. Using fork or hands, lightly mix together until mixture forms cohesive mass. Divide meat into 4 equal portions. Gently toss one portion of meat back and forth between hands to form loose ball. Gently flatten into 3/4-inch-thick patty that measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Press center of patty down with fingertips until it is about 1/2 inch thick, creating a slight depression in each patty. Repeat with remaining portions of meat. 4. Lightly dip wad of paper towels in vegetable oil; holding wad with tongs, wipe cooking grate. Grill burgers on hot side of grill, covered, until well seared on first side, 2 to 4 minutes. Using wide metal spatula, flip burgers and continue grilling, about 3 minutes for medium-well or 4 minutes for well-done.
