These chocolate cherry bars combine two delicious dessert flavors to become an extra special treat.

Crumb Mixture
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups uncooked quick-cooking oats
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups Land O Lakes® Butter softened
Filling
1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract
Glaze
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine all crumb mixture ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture oto bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 15-20 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned.
  • Combine all filling ingredients in same bowl. Spread filling over hot, partially baked crust; sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Continue baking 27-32 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring often, 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Drizzle over bars. Cool completely; cut into bars.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/4 cups butter, softened
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 teaspoon shortening

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, sugar and butter until crumbly. Set aside 1-1/2 cups for topping. Press remaining crumb mixture into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.
